An Ounce of Prevention ...
At Arnold's AC, we can't stress enough the importance of professional preventive maintenance to keep your system running efficiently and to ensure the longest lifespan possible. Following are a few of the more important items to have maintained at least once per year:
- CLEAN EXTERNAL UNIT Clear debris away from the outside unit and be sure at least 2 feet of open space remains clear of encroaching vegetation and other objects.
- CLEAN & STRAIGHTEN CONDENSER FINS The condenser fins are where a lot of dirt and debris tend to accumulate. Falling twigs. leaves and other objects can also ding and bend the fins, so they need to be periodically straightened.
- CLEAN THE CONDENSER FAN This is also an area where a lot of dirt and debris can accumulate over time and it should be cleaned at regular intervals.
- CLEAN THE EVAPORATOR COIL The evaporator coil door is usually found inside the blower unit and a lot of dirt and debris may accumulate here as well.
- CLEAN THE EVAPORATOR DRAIN The evaporator drain can clog from a buildup of algae and mold and will need to be opened to prevent bad odors, engaging the float valve, which will shut down the system, and possible flooding.
- REPLACE THE BLOWER FILTER Usually this is an issue only in highly dusty environments. But professional maintenance should include at least an inspection of the blower filter.
